Hello,

First of all I don't know if this is the best place to address this issue. If not, please let me know. I got the advise in one forum to report this kernel ooping to redhat.

Specs:

Dell Latitude C600 laptop
PIII 750 Mhz
256MB RAM
20GB HD (9 GB Linux partition)
RH 8.0 kernel 2.4.18-24
Swap partition size is 522MB

I've got a lot of kernel ooping's where RH8.0 just freezes and I have to power off unsafely and restart the machine. For instance if I leave the machine on for the night 95% of the time kernel oops. I'll put an example of the ooping, although I keep more than 6 instances in the last 4 days.

Most of the opps are regarding kswap. Can you please help me identify what the possible issue might be? What kind of corrective action might I perform?

Also, I've had a couple of , it seemed, non-related messages at startup in BIOS telling me that the PC had to reduce the amount of physical memory available (RAM) due to some problem. Those messages came and went away and I have not noted a visible effect.

Regards,
