        echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/icmp_echo_ignore_broadcasts

/proc/sys/net/ipv4/icmp_echo_ignore_broadcasts defaults to zero for
historical reasons, but most systems should set it to 1 in rc.local.
