Two days ago I had the same problem with RH 7.3. I'm not shure weather I
can help you, but my problem were the missing kernel-headers. Notice the
following deps:
gcc needs glibc-devel, which needs kernel-headers > 2.2
But: a packet kernel-headers doesn't exist.
Therefore install glibc-kernheaders-2.4-xx.rpm

Then make dep clean bzImage modules modules_install should work. If not,
I don't know...
