try less '!! <hit tab>

the single quote will stop any shell shenanigans

this is worrysome.  on my system:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] tmp]$ which lsattr
/usr/bin/lsattr
[EMAIL PROTECTED] tmp]$ which chattr
/usr/bin/chattr
