I have a removable harddrive which I move from work to home in a daily basis. Generally I do not have any reason to boot any of the computers (at home or office) without the harddrive, however the few times I have done it in windows (at work) there is a preventive message telling you the hard drive is missing and it gives you the chance to choose an action (validate the change, continue and so on).
I have a dual boot setting at home with RH 8 and windows xp, grub is the boot loader. When the harddrive is missing I found that the computer will be unable to boot any of the systems. I assume is something related with the boot loader. Is there any way to validate this change and to continue? Do I have to modify something in grub?
Info: grub is in the MBS; operating systems are located at the beginning of separate harddrives and obviously not in the one I have as removable.
Thanks a lot for your wise (as always) advice.
Felipe.
