That sig file is for the gzipped tarball. If you have the gzipped tarball
in the same directory as the sig, then you just do this:

  gpg --verify sendmail.8.12.8.tar.gz.sig

GnuPG will attempt to verify the sig against "sendmail.8.12.8.tar.gz".
