I ran into this same problem at work when I upgraded my machine from
RedHat 4.2 to 5.0. There are underscores in ever machine name on our
WAN, and 5.0 just won't go there.
Oh well, It's something I have been able to work around by adding
machines to /etc/hosts (just the ones that are necessary). I don't
suppose someone is looking at a "fix" for this. I realize that the
fault is the guy that designed our network at work, but as long as NT
works he couldn't care less if he has got it right.
