I also find that strange. I had not asked because it seems to work, but I find it odd that I have the swap partition detected as both a Win95 Ext'd partition and a true Linux Swap. Really odd...[EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# fdisk -l Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/hda1 * 1 510 4096543+ b Win95 FAT32 /dev/hda2 1276 1288 104422+ 83 Linux /dev/hda3 1289 2367 8667067+ 83 Linux /dev/hda4 2368 2432 522112+ f Win95 Ext'd (LBA) /dev/hda5 2368 2432 522081 82 Linux swap
Also, your extended partition is quite strange. Why do you have a windows extended partition only for a linux swap? Isn't that strange?
I'll try parted, wlthough you might have hit a good point when you talk about partition laws (3 primary + 1 extended).
What solution can I initiate if I can't reclaim the space as a separate partition. Can I resize an existing partition? Does it have to be contigous space (as /dev/hda2 is /boot and I don't think it would be good to have any user data or VMWARE data in it)?
Thanks for your help,
Ed.
