it is called from /etc/crontab on my redhat 7.3 system. comment
it out and it will stop running.

and it does work..though my configuration is dramatically different
from redhat's stock config(can't imagine why I'd wanna run mrtg as
root). All the stats on http://mrtg.aphroland.org are generated from
my redhat 7.3 system, 202 different targets probed every 5 minutes..
