1) reboots about every 4-7 days

2)at startup, it simply runs through its regular modes, only once has it
said to fsck manually which....

3) I did, it fixed things and then went on about its business.

4) the logs show nothing but ftp info.

Is there anyway for the logs to be more verbose or to report on anything
that happens??
