A wiseman said to me, for a serious computer problem, turn it off, walk away for a day and then come back and try again. I was pretty sure I wasn't hacked because I wasn't getting login correct error. Plus the machine wasn't on my network, unless somebody physically broke into my home and hacked it, and why they would do that is beyond me.
