Share the folder with Samba instead of the "built-in" sharing - you can access the Samba config file at /etc/samba/smb.conf - or you can use SWAT or Webmin to more fully configure sharing via Samba. Once you look through the configuration file, though, it's actually fairly simple to understand - just make sure that whatever changes you make you restart samba (/sbin/service smb --full-restart) prior to trying to access the share on the network.
