I think that you can find that instructions bundled with the software
are quite decent, you can build rpms right out of the box and you are as
happy as a lark.
See http://www.courier-mta.org/ this will be a good start. Remember
that you have rig you mail system to deliver into a Maildir as opposed
to a mbox system, as that is the only mailbox format supported, there
are atleast 2 ways in which this can be achieved, use maildrop as a
drop-in for procmail or use a mail server that supports Maildir
deliveries, I am biased towards Exim, but other decent mail servers
include the Courier smtp server, Qmail and Postfix. Sendmail can be used
with a maildrop substitution I think.
Also join the courier mailing list and ask further questions there as
you will find more in depth answers to your queries. That is always a
good idea.
