I'm in the process of writing a backup script for a new email server I've just setup. From what I've seend a relatively simple cron job using cpio will backup the server overnight for me and if I do it right give me the ability to restore both files and directories as required and to safe locations.
However I have one little question, How do I get it to use the hardware compression built into the tape drive ? or am I just being a muppet ? the drive is a dds4 dat drive.
