I need some direction on setting up a VPN client for my home Linux boxes. I am running RH7.3 on one and RH9 on another. Both machines connect to the net through a Linksys router. I would like to connect to my work VPN server. The server at work is running Linux 6.2 but I do not know how the VPN is implemented (it is maintained by an offsite contractor that I do not have ready access to). I do know that any version of windows (98 and up) can easily connect using the stock windows VPN client. I have found lots of things on google but they all seem to focus on setting up a VPN server or using a Proprietary VPN client (ie. Cisco).

Now the questions:
Where should I look for a VPN client that would use the same protocols as the windows built in client and how do I activate a VPN connection in Linux? Do I need Freeswan or cipe or are they needed for servers only? Is there a How-to somewhere that covers this?

If necessary, I can get more info on the VPN server, but it would take a while and I would like to get this working quickly.

Thanks
