I remember that with the RH4.2 install it did ask you whether or not you
needed PCMCIA support.  I installed 5.0 too on my laptop and I don't
remember if it asked or not (I assume it didk) but I did not have to do
any extra configuring.  If it does ask, then it within' the first few
questions it asks you. (Somewhere right after asking if you use a color
monitor or not.)  Your pcmcia port could possibly be unsupported.  You can
go to http://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/kernel and download the pcmcia
package and look through the documentation to see if your particular
pcmcia package is supported.
