I still am having trouble with the jdk-1.1.5 installation. The
CLASSPATH variable points to a valid /usr/lib/classes.zip but when I try to
run any of the demo programs I get
"java was not found in /usr/bin/jdk-1.1.5/../bin/i586/green_threads/java"
which is a whopping lie because it is there !
Upon typing "which java" I get /usr/bin/java.
It seems I have java components installed in three different places
/usr/bin/, /usr/bin/jdk-1.1.5/, /usr/bin/i586/green_threads/ ?!
I have added /usr/bin/jdk-1.1.5/ to my path. But alas no luck. I have tried
calling it from a script with no luck. The installation help is for windows
and solaris - no luck.
If I could just get the darn thing started I am sure I could hack my way to
stability but I am at an impass. Anyone have a simple answer to this problem
I would eternally grateful.
