Do you have to be in a particular shell to execute these commands? I'm working in bash. When I issued the unicode_stop command, VueScan launched, with the same messed up labels. I shut down VueScan. When I issued the unicode_start command, my whole system locked up. I couldn't issue any keyboard commands. I >just got a beep every time I hit a key. Thanks,
Argh! Not sure what happened there. Try entering this in a terminal:
#!/bin/bash env LANG=C /path_to_vuescan/vuescan
and save it as vuescan2. Then use vuescan2 to launch vuescan. Should work.
