Hello,

in rh9 redhat did the daring step to include the threading system nptl into the kernel, although it is not official yet.

but this mistake causes several programs to crash. Some say due to a bug in the implemantation. may it be or not.
fact is, i like to use transcode and cinelerra, to edit my videos.

cinelerra can run by setting an:
env LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 cinelerra

in front of it.
In transcode 0.6.8 it is said, there is an fix for the nptl bug. But, transcode still crashes. the whole computer crashes and i have to uses this tiny reset button on front of the computer.

well, how do i get rid of nptl? When will there be a fix?

Shall I use an official kernel?
Shall I get rid of redhat?

This thing cost me several hours!

Regards
Cornelius
