Hi Cosmo it is because it's playing the mp3 using mpg123 a console based mp3 player. you can change the file association to use another gui based player like xmms for example. if you had to open a console white the music is playing you would be able to see the mpg123 running
ps ax | grep mpg123 if you need to kill it you can do a killall mpg123 Regards, Marinus van Aswegen Principal Consultant Deloitte & Touche Security Services Group Phone: +27-(0)11-209-6324 Fax: +27-(0)11-806-5202 "All parts should go together without forcing. I'm a bit confused by things I can't see: When I'm in the file browser, I can hover my mouse pointer over an audio file. I then hear the sound play through the speakers. If I double-click the file, it plays the whole file. But there is no window that pops up where I can control the playing of the file (stopping, pausing, volume, etc.). If I double-click on another file, a second file plays *concurrently*. So I've got two audio files playing at once, making a cacophonous mess. I can't figure out any way to stop either of them from playing. I gather that this is happening seperate from my XMMS player, because the files are playing completely independent from any XMMS controls.
