Ok... I've watched this for a while, and I will throw in my two cents
worth... Add the following line to your passwd file:
user1::0:0:test user:/root:/bin/bash
(Do not be connected to the I-net when you do this for it leaves your
computer WIDE open until you delete the account)
and then try logging in as user1
if this works, then we are one step closer... first, try changing the
directory to one listed in the home directory... (Then try logging on as
that user)
If that works, change the permissions (That's the 0:0 part) to something a
lot higher and just keep playing with the account until is stops working,
and then post what the last change made was...
