Yes there is.  I am not sure about XP but I think you can do it through there 
connection wizard.  In Linux you can route a usb connection into an eathernet 
connection.  I haven't done it from a Redhat machine to a Redhat machine but I have 
seen it done from a Zaurus unit which yes runs Linux to a Redhat machine. There is
