I'd like to have logins locked out after 3 invalid attempts to enter a server. I would also like root to be notified by email when this occurs. I would like this to be a system wide default. I have found the password aging chage cmd which should allow me to force a user to change a password every 90 days. However, again, I would like this to be a system wide default. Are there system default files, such as /etc/default/passwd and /etc/default/login in Solaris, for Linux rel 8?
