Hello everyone...

Im running a RH 7.3 server. It is running Samba 2.2.8a with OpenLDAP 2.0.27 on the backend for accounts.
Everything is working so far with this server, however I noticed something today that im not to sure about..

The server specs:
Xeon 2.8ghz
2gig RAM
3 36 320 SCSI drives

What I noticed is that when I type free -m:

total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 2512 324 2187 0 82 38
-/+ buffers/cache: 203 2308
Swap: 2000 0 2000

Seems ok...
but, when I run a top:

12:14pm up 18:18, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
35 processes: 34 sleeping, 1 running, 0 zombie, 0 stopped
CPU states: 0.0% user, 0.0% system, 0.0% nice, 100.0% idle
Mem: 2572404K av, 332728K used, 2239676K free, 0K shrd, 84680K buff
Swap: 2048216K av, 0K used, 2048216K free 39748K cached

Everything seems ok...(NOTE: Server is not in production yet)

What caught my attention was that the Mem: field -> used goes up about 8k every couple of seconds...and im not sure why...

Is there anything I can do to figure out what this is? make sure it is not a problem and if it is a problem, correct it?
If you need more output, let me know...

Thanks everyone...

Jason
