I am running RedHat 9. When I go to Soundcard Detection, the test sound plays fine, but none of the sounds under Sound Events in Preferences will play without error. If I open the Audio Player and try to play a wav file, it says 'Couldn't open audio', and check that I have the right plugin selected and no other program is blocking the soundcard and your soundcard is configured properly.
I investigated further and found this in my System Log: Sep 3 13:58:06 columbus kernel: Via 686a/8233/8235 audio driver 1.9.1-ac3rh2 Sep 3 13:58:06 columbus kernel: PCI: Found IRQ 5 for device 00:07.5 Sep 3 13:58:06 columbus kernel: IRQ routing conflict for 00:07.5, have irq 11, want irq 5 Sep 3 13:58:06 columbus kernel: PCI: Sharing IRQ 5 with 00:0c.0 Sep 3 13:58:06 columbus kernel: ac97_codec: AC97 Audio codec, id: ADS96 (Analog Devices AD1885) Sep 3 13:58:06 columbus kernel: via82cxxx: board #1 at 0xCC00, IRQ 11 Sep 3 13:58:06 columbus kernel: Enabled Via MIDI Is there an IRQ conflict causing my problem and why does the detection work without problem? -- Robert -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
