I am in serious problem. One of my Linux server crashed today and on booting it is giving error "UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY" PLEASE RUN FSCK MANUALLY. Than it ask for root password.

But I have lost root password, I tried to boot in "linux single" mode but then also it ask for root password.

For a quick solution, put the disk into another Linux box then check it from there. Once the disk is checked and your disk errors fixed, move it back to the original computer and move on with your life.

Also, this is why you should KNOW the root password, or have it written down but locked in a safe. Forgetting your root password is a guarantee that you will eventually get into trouble.
