Hi
I got a new server:
ASUS P2L97 motherboard, P II 233 CPU, 256 megs RAM
Onboard Adaptec 7880 (Revision C, BIOS 1.32)
3COM 900 PCI net
ELSA Winner 1000 T2D
IBM 2.1 GB UW-SCSI-HDD
Installing RHL 5.0 does fine, but after compiling my own kernel (2.0.33,
Adaptec-support, no advanced features for the SCSI-controller) and make
some 'stress' (compiling three different programs at the same time) I get
some silly errors:
o the system freezes, but 'ping' and ALT-Fx (switching of VC) still
works - but no commands are accepted
o I got some register dumps from processes, also from PID 1
o After pressing RESET (and Reboot) the filesystem is corrupted
(Kernel Panic: Could not find free block list).
I tried to low-level-format the disk, but nothing changed. I also checked
cabels and termination.
Partitions:
sda1 : / 1.8 GB
sda2 : 256 swap (128 MB used)
*Any* help is welcome... Is maybe the SCSI-controller too new for the
standard-drivers?
Thanks, Oliver
