I have noticed lately that I have some files with name core.xxxxx where xxxx is a different number at each file. They are all 2 megs and they are all in the / directory. Running RH8.
Any idea?
One of your programs is dying and the core.xxxx files are where it dumps its "core" memory contents to help you debug (it's called a "core dump" for obvious reasons). If you don't know how to debug this kind of problem, you can just delete those files.
