Newbie: Partition setup, Etc...

I just got my RH5.0 CD yesterday, and quickly started installing. It seemed to go quite well at first, but I cannot get Metro-X or XFree either one to load. Upon inspection of log files and things those files pointed to, I think I am missing many files, and that this is due to running out of space during my install because of my partition setup.... Can someone give me an ideal partition arrangement. I have been installing to a 2gig drive, but if needed, I also have a second 2gig on the same controller that is empty.



Next, can someone tell me why my HD access light NEVER goes off under linux.



And next, what do I need to do to access my CDROM once under linux? It works fine during install, but after that I go to /mnt/cdrom/ and there is nothing there, and it does not even look at the drive.



And finally, can anyone expound on the differences in MetroX and XFree, and which is viewed as the better product....
