I'm wondering if this might be possible with a sort of modular kernel
such as Mach, ie, recompiling and then switching your running kernel on
the fly by swapping the modules one at a time or something similar, with
message-passing and such, as is already incorporated in eg Mach.  You
would have to momentarily suspend the interrupt handler, but you could
at least maintain core and the process table.

Anyone hear of anything like this?
