I'm trying to install Linux on a friend's box. Windows 98
installed fine, but Redhat 6.1 is giving me some troubles.
I get the following errors during the install:
hda: write_intr: status=0x71 { DriveReady DeviceFault
SeekComplete Error }
hda: write_intr: error=0x10 { SectorIdNotFound },
LBAsect=12337921, sector=12337921
-and-
hda: read_intr: status=0x59 { DriveREady SeekComplete
DataRequest Error }
hda: read_intr: error=0x10 { SectorIdNotFound },
LBAsect=21096835, sector=99080
Here is some info about the system:
AMD K6-2 350 Mhz with 64 Mb RAM
hda: FUJITSU MPD3108AT (10 Gb IDE Hard Drive)
Host Bridge: VIA Technologies VT 82C597 Apollo VP3 (ref 4).
IDE Interface:
Bus 0, device 8, function 0
VIA Technologies VT 82C586 Apollo IDE (rev 6).
Medium devsel. Fast back-to-back capable. Master capable.
Latency=63. Min Gnt=3. Max Lat=1.
Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xe4000000
Prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xe5000000
The hard drive is not bad. I tested it in my other Linux system
and it worked beautifully. And the hard drive seems to function
perfectly while intalling and using Windows 98. But when I go
to install Redhat 6.1 all hell breaks loose. I've never seen
this type of hard drive error. Any help would be *greatly*
appreciated. Thank you so much for your time.
Sincerely,
