I recently installed sysklogd-1.3.31-1.5.i386.rpm on my RH5.2 system.
Now I'm getting logging behavior different from what I had with the
prior version (which was a security update from the original that
accompanied RH5.2).

What I have noticed so far is that mgetty events that used to show up in
/var/log/messages are no longer being logged. Outgoing sendmail events
are being logged to /var/log/maillog, but incoming events (like relay
attempts) are no longer being logged. I have not made any changes to my
mgetty and sendmail configurations.

I can see that the package installed a new /etc/syslog.conf over my old
one. Unfortunately, I don't have a backup of the old one. I do not think
I made any changes to the stock file that came with the earlier sysklogd
packages, though.

What should I do to allow mgetty and sendmail (and perhaps others I
haven't noticed) to log the way they used to with previous sysklogd
packages?
