There are updates on the Red Hat errata page that don't seem to actually fix any of the problems (particularly the static IP problem). I finally just set up a quick and dirty DHCP server and installed it without using static IP. But even that is very flaky and very particular. Try the errata updates and then if (when) that doesn't work, just set up a DHCP server from rpms. It's not that difficult to do I found.
