Hmpf... I have never run into this problem, but
it sounds like you are using a RH-supplied KDE,
are you not? I have always used kde tarballs
supplied from a kde mirror - and I also, recently,
compile my own and install it where I want it
to go...all of it (I choose /usr/kde). I'm not
sure what the RH version is doing to cause
the difficulty, but one other thing to try, if
you haven't already, is to set /usr/sbin/kppp
to suid and have your kppp symlink point to
/usr/sbin/kppp as you have already done.

Again, I can access ppp0 in gnome but not in kde. What gives?
