I have run strace -p on netscape when it freezes, and have found it to be a
problem with not being able to access a particular page - usually happens when
the site you are accessing tries to access a 3rd party image - ie banner adds.
to see for yourself, when netscape starts to freeze, just find the pid, and
run strace -p pid - you will see it is trying to access a certain page and
can't.
