last night my leased line failed
and I guess some processes were going stray on my RH6.1 (one of them took
nfsd's port)

but the weirdness came from cron.

in /etc/cron.every.5.minutes there is a script who pings some NT machines
to signal if they hang up. The script runs fine for some weeks.
now, all those machines are inside a 10.x.x.x network

yet cron failed executing that script and sent me this message:

connect to smtp.site1.csi.com failed (Resource temporarily unavailable) no
(more) retries!connect to localhost failed (Connection refused)
connect to localhost failed
smtp.site1.csi.com not found
connect to smtp.site1.csi.com failed (Resource temporarily unavailable) no
(more) retries!
retrying in 1 seconds...

why would it want to connecto to compuserve ?
or should I wonder who wanted that ?
