/dev/lp0 not detected

Anyone know why the kernel in 6.1 won't detect /dev/lp0 at boot time?
The kernel in 6.0 did and I have not gone into the BIOS and turned it off.

It found the two serial ports, but not the parallel port.

This was discovered when trying to configure the printer.  Actually the printer
is configured, just that it can't talk to lp0.
