I don't know your modem, but the fact that you need to run some
installation software to get it running scares me. ;-)
Is this an internal modem? If yes, is this a 'Winmodem'?
Winmodems will only work with Winxx. Or, at least, they will *not* work
with Linux. AFAIK, they will not work within a foreseable future
neither.
I know that some people have been successful in getting internal PCI
modems that are *not* winmodems to work with Linux.
If it's an external modem, I don't see any reasons for you to run any
'installation software', but then again, I may be missing something
since I don't know the modem.
Isn't there any DOS version of the installation software?
