Hi

I have a problem running RedHat 6.1 on a ViewSonic E70 17 inch monitor.
The problem is that, no matter what I do, the screen area is at least a
centimeter less than what it should fill horizontally. The pushbuttons
specific to the monitor cannot expand horizontal size more than one
centimeter away from each side.

I think the Modeline for my monitor at the moment is (in XF86Config):

Modeline "1024x768" 85 1024 1032 1152 1360 768 784 787 823

I tried to change that with xvidtune to see if I could expand the Htotal
(horizontal total), but nothing I do there either seems to change the
limitation on horizontal size. I also tried to change the resolution to
1280x1024 but that didn't make a difference either.

Note that when the computer was first booted in runlevel 5 (running X),
the size occupied by the window was rather small and to the right. I had
to expand both horizontal and vertical sizes with the monitor controls.
But the horizontal control went to maximum before it could fill the
screen.

Currently my X windows driver is XF86_SVGA, but the same problem exists
on another computer with another Xwindows driver.

Anyone has any idea how to solve this? It's a bit disappointing to have
a nice large monitor and then have those wide black margins on each
side.

Any help will be most appreciated.

Thanks
