You could try the Remote-X-Apps mini-HOWTO if you want to run remote X
applications and have them display on your system.  If what you want to do
is log into a remote system, and run the display manager on that system,
using an X server on your system, I am not sure of where to find a HOWTO,
but two commands that come in handy are /usr/bin/X11/X -broadcast and
/usr/bin/X11/X -indirect <server name>.  The first one will connect you to
the first server it finds, and the second will usualy give you a list of
the systems you can connect to, depending on how the <server system> is
set up.
