I still use the KDE dialer under Redhat 6.2 ans GNOME.  I still like it
better, is more configurable.  You do need to add items like MTU 1500 and
the default route of ppp0 when it dials out, and eth0 when it hangs up,
however.  The KDE dialer has an option to obey locking or not. You need to
have installed all the packages, GNOME and KDE for it to work.
