should gphoto work with a camera that is a video conference type camera?  I
know that it works with flash card usb and serial cameras but this is the
video camera which also can take still shots.

What have you tried?  I don't know about theis particular camera but I go my
Kodak DC215 to work in about 10 minutes using gPhoto.
