Sounds like a great idea. I had wanted to get invovled in something
like this but don't have a deep enough programming background and
how current package managers work. One suggestion I would make (and
i don't know if this would fall under shawdow packages) is to
include all dependent packages for a program as well. For instance,
if you have something that requires perl you should include the
version of perl that it requires in the package. I hate downloading
something and then trying to install it only to find that is says
"Dependent on this package", and then I have to go find that one and
the next one and they have to be the right version etc. One other
thing, are you planning on running your own FTP site for these
packages? Anyway, sounds great!
