laptop recommendations

Hi Folks,

I'm hoping the good people here can recommend laptops that
work well with Linux.  

My primary constraints are:
        Memory : at least 256Meg
        Disk   : 10+ Gig
        Screen : 12-14 in
        Pointer: No touch pad 
                ( I keep trying them and keep hating them)
        CPU    : 500MHz or better preferred.

Any pointers to sources of info also appreciated.
