Sorry folks,

 I made an assumption (you know what they say when you assume something..)
about the same style of connections on my mail server. While some were
from apache, the majority of them belong to sendmail. It's nowhere near as
noticable as the web server though.

 They still are being created in the same way though. I'm not quite sure
where to go from here but I'm about to make preperations to take one of
the boxes back down to its original RedHat 7.0 release kernel (without the
openwall patche) as I don't see anything else that could be causing this
problem on these two machines and not on any others.


 Any ideas before I do?
