Bob,
I'm probably newer at this then you are!
I hope a hundred people don't start emailing me for tech support - I don't think my
boss would care to much for that! :-)
Anyway I'll try to answer your Qs:
At 10:55 PM 11/15/2000 -0500, you wrote:

Let me be very clear: I have a jw@the_real_FQDN working (i.e. the regular local shell
account "jw"
And 1 [EMAIL PROTECTED] working.
Totally separated
I'm working on [EMAIL PROTECTED] right now for testing.
As noted I intend to write *something*
I strongly suggest that you DO go ahead and
1. remove sendmail (don't forget to back everything up first! - /etc file and mail
spools
2. Go ahead and install Postfix, and set up the regular service.
3. install GnuPop3d as your pop3daemon. You need to use Reed's virtual hosting patch.
get it from here:

>Are you also limiting who can relay from your mailserver ?
By default _nothing_ can relay. You have to open the relays one at a time.
So in a sense, yes
>Are you using any db to manage the users, passwords etc ?
Nope. I've never done that before, and didn't do it this time.

No prob - I asked way too many Qs my self! :-)
Later,
JW
P.S watch the list for me to post whatever I write up. I doubt I'll write it tonight
though - sorry
