I just did a partial clean install of 7.0 this weekend. I wiped out my
root, /usr, and /var partitions and kept /home and /opt.

I have a private lan on eth1 and an ADSL connection on eth0. When I
installed 7.0 and set up the networking using the same parameters as I had
before, I could talk on the lan just fine but could not get a ping from
the ADSL gateway machine. I'm a UNIX sysadmin by profession so I should be
able to set this up without much difficulty. After much head scratching, I
finally found I could get ADSL connectivity by simply doing a "ifdown
eth0" followed by an "ifup eth0". I couldn't see any reason why that
should work since the routes were the same before and after. I added
the two statements in the network rc file at the end as a workaround. Has
anyone seen this before and have a solution?
