In case anyone's interested yes it can be done - I've worked it out for
myself.

My thanks to all those preparing lengthy submissions to the list to help me
out on this one.

Subject: Accessing samba shares over a PPP serial link - can it be done?

Hello

I'm in the process of setting up dial in to our RH6.2 server.

A mixture of Win NT Win95/98 machines will be using the modem dial in
facilities. I have successfully set up the PPP link and can do such things
as telnet, ftp from the windows client - so far so good. However I would
like the Windows machines to be able to see the samba shares which have been
set up on the linux box over the serial PPP line. Please note that samba
works in the office okay, i.e win95 machines on the LAN are able, using
windows explorer, to access the shares set-up on the RH box without
difficulty.

I would like to know:-

a] Is it possible to access the share via a PPP serial link - has anyone
done this?
b] Any good resources on doing this, if not can somebody share their finding
with the mailing list?

Thanks in advance.
