I tried this with RH 6.2 but no luck. Here is what I did :

alias eth0 airo (airo is for aironet radio)
alias eth1 eepro100

It just insist on putting the aironet on eth1 anyway :=(

If this is rh7.0, you will need to edit modules.conf instead of
conf.modules.  That should have worked in 6.2 or earlier when you edit
conf.modules.  If this is a 6.2 or earlier version, I have no immeadiate
idea whats up.  If thats all it is, you could put a short script in place
that makes the edits you need to modules.conf.  Hope this helps.
