whois - usage

Hi,
  My home network firewall is being banged on repeated by a single
foreign IP address.  I would like to track it backward.
   
  I have tried 'whois xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' without luck.  Is there a
specific web site that I can go to for this lookup?
